What's so hard about choosing a church?

Now I know I may get shot down for expressing this '5 minute christian view' but sometimes is amazes me that hardcore mature christians have such difficulty in choosing a church. To me it seems simple:

  • have a relationship with God as your only source of validation
  • choose a church
  • start serving at church and start loving your church family

If you have issues with the theology, practices, people at the church, fine. But don't let it stop you choosing, serving and loving.

I know church can be an 'institution', but I also see it as a 'fellowship of believers', most of whom are far less blessed than me, yet far more humble and loving.

If I have 'issues' with the church, I better make sure its not due to "all about me" type thinking. I know I am meant to be serving at church. I am blessed 'cause the Lord gives my heart joy doing it.

babe one of the big issues that christians have with churches - and the majority of christians are not mature, they would fall under the 'convinced' category and not 'committed'...is ACCEPTANCE AND LOVE, they don't feel like it's somewhere they can belong or be a part of a church family, they have no relationships with people and no one has sort them out to care and connect with them, or they have been rejected because they don't fit the church culture.

But yes there are christians who church hop because they don't get what they want and some of these are mature christians...

Plus there is the different strokes for different folks...people have to try it out before they realise that this isn't the church God planted them in because they just don't fit...eg: so the body of christ is made up of different parts and they belong to another part.

It's because you are not a balding short asian woman that you would be readily accepted in any church...so you are blessed, because you fit the majority...you get to choose.
