3 words the LORD has given me to help me thrive in this life of mine...they seem to be words i'm often missing, but every day I learn how much they apply to me!

impossible prayers
I believe the LORD wants us to pray for anything our heart cries out for...even if it seems stupid. Children can ask their parents for anything and he's my Heavenly Father. Children don't always get what they want because parents know better. They can see the bigger picture and sometimes the answer has to be NO. But that doesn't stop a child from asking.
If Jesus said we are to be like little children in attitude then I think this is one of those ways we can emulate children. To be bold and ask for anything without fear. They don't hesitate and think oh but they might say NO, what are the ramifications of such a prayer. Just like those children who tried to push forward to see Jesus, I want to do the same.
They are much more positive and think what if... or if only... My Dad can make this happen, he can do anything, I'll ask him. They seem to think nothing is too hard for their parents.
That's me with the LORD....The LORD might say YES, he can make this happen, he can do anything. If he says NO then fine. But there's only one way to find out.
My current impossible prayer - to save children from evil - from child abuse, from poverty, from sickness. To rescue them from detrimental situations that they are powerless to change.
It breaks my heart that children are born into families and environments that steal their future. How are they meant to cope? Children that die horrific deaths will spend eternity loved by their Creator but why must they suffer at all?? I know I'm childish in thinking God can make exceptions to the sin rule. But he said i could ask him for anything. So i will ask. Always ask.
I am the child, the LORD is my heavenly Father. I can't work it out, but he can. If it's possible then he can do it. The LORD can find a way. I can't see how but it's not for me to work out - that's the LORD'S job. And if it's possible then he will make it so.
And i know that people who read this will say 'but it's not possible so just forget about it'. But i can't. i am reminded every day of a child who needs prayer.

no judgment in the streets
I am guilty of judging others too quick. I am hopeful that I don't judge peoples level of faith - but i judge people on first impressions, on their past actions, on what they say and do now!
My brother lives in a part of town a lot of people avoid...and a statement he said to me recently stood out: "there is no judgment on the streets". It made it sound like a great place to me!
At church once we were asked to write on a piece of paper what we were praying for Jesus to work on in our lives - I wrote something like "be less judgmental".
And today - with a member of my family - I realise I judge him all the time. Based on past actions. His comments lack integrity. Yet because I am living with a judgmental attitude I am the one being burdened down.
Jesus does not need another judgmental Christian - he needs someone who will just love. And that attitude change for me sounds easy and so light in burden!

double rainbow
my beloved came to visit me
we were caught in the rain
running through the streets of my home town
this huge beautiful rainbow broke out
and then i saw it...another complete rainbow just above it.
it stopped me as i stared in awe
rain pouring around me.
I love the rain and i love rainbows
but a double rainbow I had never seen before.
at one of the darkest times in my life
I felt so blessed and loved.
favourite things
running scared about life and my many commitments had to escape to a beach at nite with the girls
beautiful lightning flashes so close to us, just over the sea, but no storm or rain
plus two shooting stars
These are a few of my favourite things
natural phenomena for me is like a glimpse of my LORD and Creator.
first time i saw a shooting star...was when my Dad was dying of cancer.
that was the first time i saw a double rainbow too.
moments like that let me know that the LORD is with me
and he loves me enough to let me catch a glimpse of him when i need him.
It takes my breath away and I remember who he is, my Creator.
The Maker of heaven and earth.
He is in control and my hope is restored.
