Couple of funny chats with people yesterday.
Firstly, I was parked in a street near the airport waiting to pick up Duncan and this 'rough looking' man comes up to the car. Turns out he is from Nowra and looking for directions. But then he just strikes up a conversation. We end up chatting about his family, events in his life, issues of the day (eg: petrol prices) and a bunch of stuff. We talked, connected and I know I felt good! He thanked me for chatting with him.
Secondly, after work as I walked home I popped into a food shop Duncan and I both go to. The guy behind the counter asked how Duncan was. And rather than just kinda make a comment and that was it, I offered a conversation starter. We ended up having a good chat about him, his work, work issues he faces, his lifestyle decision to run his own business etc. We parted on closer terms, knowing we would see each other again.
It reminded me that in this relationship challenge the Lord has given me with people it does not take much to connect. I especially feel men are desperate to reach out to other men.
Funny thing, Nick rang me this morning. We had a little chat, but it was not long enough.

why I believe in God #4
We went for a scan on the new baby the other week and we could see a 4mm long baby (yes thats right 4mm long!).
And we could see its little heart beating at 108 beats per minute. It was mostly heart being that small.
How could nature and micro-evolution develop such a complex process of an embryo growing a heart and into a baby!
Sorry folks - but something like that needed a God designer!

I am the same as everyone else
I walk down the street today at lunch...seeing people driving fancy cars, nice suits, lunching in fancy cafes...and think 'how materialistic are these people?', and 'do they know their real purpose in life?'.
Yet I know I am just like them...a materialistic self-centred vain sinner!
BUT also I know that i do know my purpose. And I am saved. And Jesus loves me.
So I carry on down the road smiling. Joy and peace in my heart.

LORD
I want to lift up Charlie and Karen to you. Thank you for bringing them to our church - they are such a blessing to us all. Please help them in their walk with you. Help Karen to know who she is in you and all the gifts that she brings to our church family. Give her your confidence LORD and help her to know in her spirit how much you love her. The same with Charlie LORD.
They have both come out of their shells more and it's great to see. Help them to both know you more LORD and to know that you will never leave them nor forsake them. That they can do all things through you, Lord Jesus, because you strengthen them. Help them to grow in their walk with you in your name Lord Jesus.
Help them with their children LORD. Karen is such a loving mum and I'm sure Charlie is just as loving, but it's Karen i know best. Give them both your wisdom to make right choices for their family.
Thank you again for your protection over Julie, for helping her come through with a clean bill of health and for helping her heal so quickly. It's great for her to know that you are her refuge and protector.

LORD
I haven't had the time to do my prayer schedule for yesterday and today. And they are two important prayer requests. So I'm still going to pray for both LORD.
Today is Dave and our church. Dave is an awesome asset to our church. He brings a young and evangelical perspective to the leadership team. It's great to have variety, LORD, and I love your awesome planning. If we were all the same it would limit our potential to grow because the world is full of variety. You creations are full of variety. So thank you LORD, for Dave and his youth and vitality.
I pray that you help to grow in leaps and bounds in his walk with you. Teach him your idea of leadership LORD, what it means to serve. Give him a spirit of discernment and wisdom please LORD so he will make right choices for our church and for his own personal walk with you.
Please be with him in his studies and help him to know what it means to be your unique creation to hear teaching and know what is right for him. LORD, help him to renew his mind so he can test and approve of what your will is. He is young LORD so he needs your guidance. Part of renewing our minds is not conforming to the patterns of this world. This includes religious traditions, doctrine, and practices that do not have your truth, that are not a part of your word LORD. What is not a part of you LORD is a part of this world. He needs to be able to recognise the truth LORD, and to have the courage to follow his beliefs.
He needs to know you more and more LORD. Help him to know your will LORD and give him the strength and wisdom to obey you.
As for our church, LORD, my biggest prayer for us is that we do your will and fulfil our part in your plan for your body. That the great commission becomes a reality to us all and we follow your vision for us as a church family.
Please guide our leaders LORD. Help them to build awesome close relationships to you so they will be fill of your Holy Spirit and be able to discern your will for us all as a whole and for each individual under their care.
Help us to become a real family LORD. Like my family, in the sense that, we have weathered the storms of life together and we have had real sometimes hard and challenging relationships with each other. But we still love each other and during good and hard times we share them together knowing that no matter what happens we are tied together by blood, by a shared history, by our parents.
help us to really be a church that anyone can come to LORD...non-christians, the outcasts of this world - homeless, mentally unstable, the poor, different nationalities, prostitutes. Help us to make reach up, reach out and reach in a reality for each of us. In our own personal relationships with you, fulfilling your unique purpose for each of us.
Help us LORD not to conform. To love you, first and foremost, and to love others. LORD thank you for all the many blessings you have given us, and for the flock that we have. Help us to each move a step closer to you and to live lives that give you the glory and show the world that you are they way the truth and the life.
Help us to be faithful to you LORD. To be obedient children to you. Help us to accept each other and encourage each other. Help us to follow you wherever you lead us. Thank you LORD.
